Paint Main judged by it’s very own Gloucester artist Leslie Belvin!

Leslie Belvin

Leslie Belvin earned her art degree at Cal State Fullerton in California where she lived before moving to Gloucester, Virginia in 1976. As an art educator in public schools from 1977 until 2018, she taught art at all levels, from kindergarten through high school. Belvin also holds a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Old Dominion University and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Gifted Education from the College of William and Mary. During her career, she helped to establish the first Gifted Arts program in the Gloucester County school system and also served as a Gifted Specialist. She founded a scholarship for high school graduates, the  Art is Basic College Scholarship (ABC Scholarship) benefiting students interested in pursuing a career in the arts.

She has traveled extensively, which afforded her opportunities to visit numerous countries and great art museums throughout Europe. Traveling over the years, she has amassed a large art collection including a collection of Boston School portraiture, fine art paintings, and sculptures. She owns an Arts and Antiques business, Vintage Arts, here in Gloucester.

Belvin’s artwork focuses mostly on portraiture, although she loves landscapes and seascapes too. She continually seeks ways to promote the arts and local artists. She attributes her love and passion for the arts to her mother who was an accomplished artist and a constant source of inspiration!

Belvin has been involved with the Gloucester Arts Festival since its inception in 2016 and has served in many positions. She looks forward to serving as Paint Main judge for 2024!
